How the static DNS panel works

How the static DNS panel works

Below we will see how the static DNS panel works. To perform any management, you must access it from the "Free DNS" option in the top menu of the cdmon control panel and click on Static DNS.

Options available in the DNS zone manager

From the "Static DNS" management section, you can add, delete and/or modify the DNS configuration of your domains.
As you will see, if you have more than one domain hosted in the "DNS Zone Manager", you can access the DNS configuration of that domain through the direct access "Manage this DNS zone".

The "DNS Zone Management" panel consists of the following sections:

Below we explain the different sections shown in the image:

cdmon DNS servers: names of the available DNS servers. To use the cdmon DNS Manager, domains must use the DNS servers specified in this box.
Add DNS zone: to add a new domain to static DNS.
Register domain: this option takes you directly to the "Domains" section of the cdmon website.
Filter: search engine for domain names in the list.
Filter by type: from this option you can filter all domains, external domains or domains registered with cdmon.
Sort: you can sort the list of domains alphabetically or by DNS type.
Actions: from the "Type" option you can select or deselect all domains. Through "Actions" you can:
  • Transfer a domain to cdmon: this applies if the DNS is in cdmon but the domain is not registered.
  • Transfer DNS management to another cdmon user.
  • Delete domains: remove DNS management for a domain.

Manage this DNS zone: access the domain’s DNS records configuration.
Options: if the domain is registered with cdmon, you can Copy zone or Transfer to another user. If not, only "Transfer to another user" will be available.

Control panel options within the domain DNS

The domain DNS records control panel consists of the following parts:

Below we explain the different sections shown in the image:

cdmon DNS servers: names of the available DNS servers. To use the cdmon DNS Manager, domains must use the DNS servers specified in this box.
Manage DNS zone associated with another domain: you can choose to manage another domain’s DNS records.
New record: clicking this option will display a menu to add new records.

Default record: automatically creates Google MX records.
More options: this dropdown includes the following options.
  • Copy data: copy DNS data from another domain. This action will delete current records.
  • Create web redirection: creates a redirect automatically using an A record pointing to 46.16.56.39.
  • Parking pages: add, modify or delete parking pages (for sale or under construction).

  • Manage email redirections: if the domain is in cdmon but email is not configured (no MX records), you can create email forwarding. If email is configured with cdmon, this option will be disabled.
