In this guide, we will show how to change your WordPress user password from /wp-admin, that is, from your WordPress admin panel.
Your administration folder does not necessarily have to be called /wp-admin, but by default this is the name of the folder used to access the WordPress admin panel.
We will show two ways to change the password from /wp-admin:
1- Change the password from the WordPress login page
This password change method is recommended when you do not remember your login credentials. To do this, use the standard password recovery option by clicking Lost your password?
Next, you will be asked to enter the username or the email address associated with that WordPress user. If entered correctly, a message will appear confirming that a reset link has been sent to that address:
If the username or email entered does not exist in your database, recovery will not be allowed and a message will indicate that no user exists with those details:
Finally, if the request has been sent correctly, you will receive an email at the specified address with a password recovery link. Click on that link:
After accessing the link, you will be redirected to the following screen, where you can set a new password:
2- Change the password from the WordPress admin panel
Even if you already know your login password and can access your WordPress admin panel, you may want to change the password for that user or for any other user in your WordPress installation. Below we show how to change the password from the WordPress panel.
To do this, go to the left-hand menu of your WordPress panel and navigate to the Users section:
You will then see a list of all users created in your WordPress. Click on "Edit" for the user whose password you want to change:
Finally, scroll down to the "Account Management" section. Under New Password, click on "Set New Password." A box will appear where you can manually modify the password:
