How to set up cdmon email in Gmail

IMPORTANT:  For security reasons, port 25 has been disabled for sending emails. If your email client is configured with this port, you will need to update it to continue sending emails. Recommended new configuration:

How to change the SMTP port in Gmail
  1. Go to Settings > See all settings
  2. Access Accounts and Import
  3. In “Send mail as”, edit the account
  4. Configure:
    1. SMTP server: smtp.yourdomain.com (replace yourdomain.com with your hosting/domain name)
    2. Port: 587
    3. Secure connection: TLS
  5. Save the changes

If you have a cdmon account, you can configure it with Gmail in four steps.

In this case, we use the account “info@example.org” as an example. This address must be replaced with the name of the email account you want to configure.

Step 1: Account setup
  1. Access Gmail with an existing account.
  2. Click the Settings icon (top-right corner) and select See all settings from the drop-down menu.

  1. Go to the Accounts and Import tab.
  2. In the "Check mail from other accounts" section, click Add a mail account.

  1. Enter the cdmon email account you want to configure (e.g. info@example.org) and click Next.

  1. Select Import emails from my other account (POP3) and click Next.

Step 2: Configure the account details
  1. Enter the cdmon account details:
    • Username: your email account (e.g. info@example.org).
    • Password: the email account password.
    • POP server: pop3.example.org

  1. If you want to keep emails in both cdmon and Gmail, check Leave a copy of retrieved message on the server.
  2. Once all the details have been entered, click Add account.
  3. Select Yes, I want to be able to send mail as info@example.org to send emails from Gmail using your cdmon domain.

  1. Enter the name that will be shown when sending emails and check Treat as an alias.

  1. Click Next step.
Step 3: Configure the SMTP server
  1. Enter the cdmon SMTP server details (replacing example.org with your domain name):
    • SMTP server: smtp.example.org
    • Port: 465.
    • Username: your email account (e.g. info@example.org).
    • Password: the email account password.

  1. Select Secured connection using SSL and click Add account.
  2. Verify your account: You will receive an email in the cdmon account with a validation link. Open and validate this link to complete the setup.

Step 4: Test and manage the account
  1. Test the account:
    • When sending a message from Gmail, you can choose which account to send from. Click From and select the desired account.

  1. Delete the account:
    • To remove the configuration, go to Accounts and Import, and click delete next to the account name.
