There may be several reasons why you have decided to manage your own DNS records: a preference for a specific provider, the need to keep domain management centralized, or simply a strategic choice for your setup.
In this guide, we will show you the steps to follow through our control panel so that you can obtain the crucial DNS information needed to configure both the email service and the web service of cdmon.
First of all, you need to access the hosting DNS management. Simply click on "Free DNS" in your control panel menu.
Once in the Free DNS section, click on the "Static DNS" button.
On the next screen, all DNS zones of the hostings/domains created under your cdmon user account will be displayed. Click on "Manage Zone" for the domain you want. This will take you to the list of all DNS records created in the DNS zone within our control panel.
Here you will find all the DNS records created in our panel. Depending on the service you want to configure in your DNS, you must create the DNS records on your external server in a specific way. Below, we show the required records that you need to copy from your cdmon control panel if you want to configure the email DNS records or the web/hosting service. If you need both, you must complete both configurations:
DNS records for email service
You must copy these records, including type A records with the hosts "correoweb," "imap," "pop3," "correo," "webmail," and "mail" pointing to our IMAP server IP. Additionally, there is an A record for "smtp" with the SMTP server IP. Make sure to create these records exactly the same on your external DNS provider. Also, replace the domain in the MX record with yours and copy the TXT record for SPF anti-spam protection.
Example Records:
Type A: correoweb - IMAP server IP
Type A: imap - IMAP server IP
Type A: pop3 - IMAP server IP
Type A: correo - IMAP server IP
Type A: webmail - IMAP server IP
Type A: mail - IMAP server IP
Type A: smtp - SMTP server IP
CNAME record: sogo - mail.yourdomain.com
MX record: mail.yourdomain.com
TXT record (SPF): "v=spf1 include:_spf.yourdomain.com ~all"
You must replace the data shown in the image with the records created in your control panel.
DNS records for web/hosting service
These are the required records for the web service. It includes one type A record with the web IP of our hosting and three CNAME records: one with the host "*" (main domain) and two CNAME records with the hosts "ftp" and "www".
Example Web Records:
Type A: @ - Web server IP
CNAME: * - yourdomain.com
CNAME: ftp - yourdomain.com
CNAME: www - yourdomain.com
You must replace the data shown in the image with the records created in your control panel.
How to find the cdmon hosting IP addresses?
If you need to obtain your server IPs, follow these steps:
Access the hosting management from the control panel, look for the "Server" section, and select "Server Information.":
When accessing this window, on the left you will find the web server IP, and on the right, the incoming and outgoing mail IPs, which we have highlighted in this example screenshot:
With these steps, your external DNS configuration will be complete for our email and web services.
