SOA (Start of Authority) is a type of record that specifies DNS information. All domain names have an SOA record that shows the basic characteristics of the domain and the zone it belongs to.
To configure SOA settings in the static DNS, follow these steps:
1.- Access DNS management
From the control panel home, in the "Basic services list", access the DNS management of the domain by clicking on DNS.
2.- Edit SOA
On the "DNS Records" screen, you will see the list of records. You can edit the SOA record by clicking on Edit record.
3.- Modify SOA values
You will access a screen where you can modify the SOA (Start of Authority) values:
Email address: email address of the domain zone administrator. Usually, the @ symbol is replaced with a dot. This is done automatically by our DNSpro manager.
TTL value: time period that DNS servers should use the records before checking for updates (for the record itself).
Refresh: number of seconds a secondary name server should wait before checking again for updated record values.
Retry: number of seconds a secondary name server should wait after a failed attempt to retrieve data from the primary server.
Expire: maximum number of seconds that a secondary name server will retain the values before expiring them.
Minimum TTL: number of seconds that records remain cached in name servers before querying the real value again (for undefined domain records).
If you use cdmon name servers, the recommended values are:
