How to get the Auth Code from a .pt domain

To transfer .pt domains, it is necessary to have the authorization code or Auth Code (valid for 30 days) as well as the Process ID. This code is provided by the Registry: www.dns.pt, using your access credentials.

If you do not know your access credentials to the user area of www.dns.pt, you can follow the steps below to obtain access and the Auth Code.

1.- Access dns.pt with your username and password
It is very likely that you do not have access credentials for DNS.pt. On the same login screen, at the bottom, you have the option "Forgot Password?" to recover access to your account if you do not remember it or do not have access.

On the recovery screen there are two options; Nic-handle or TaxPayer Nº. You must choose the second option and perform the recovery using TaxPayer Nº.

Next, you must enter the Country and the ID/VAT number of the domain holder. Once entered, click on Recover Password.

You will see that on the same screen it indicates that an email has been sent for password recovery and access. The email is sent to the account associated with the domain holder.

Access the email account associated with the domain holder and click on the link you will find in the email sent by DNS.pt.
By clicking on the link, you will access the page to change the password. On this screen you will be able to see the Nic Handle (code needed to access the panel). You must enter the new password and click on Submit.

2.- Obtain the AuthCode
Now that you have changed the password, you can access the DNS.pt panel. Enter your credentials; the Nic Handle and password, and click on Sign in.

You will access your DNS.pt user panel where you must click on the domain ID, which is the green number in the "Process" section.

You will enter the domain information screen, where you must hover over the "Actions" dropdown and select Transfer domain Management.

When clicking on the "Transfer Domain Management" option, a confirmation prompt will appear where you must click on Confirm.

Once the action is confirmed, you will see the following screen where the Auth Code of your .pt domain is displayed.

The Auth Code is not only displayed on screen, it is also sent by email to the email account associated with the domain holder.

Now that you have the Auth Code, you can request the transfer of your .pt domain.
