How to manage email redirects

How to manage email redirects

Redirects allow email received in a cdmon account to also be received in one or more internal or external accounts to the domain, such as Outlook email accounts or similar.

In this guide we provide the steps on how to create email redirects with the new verification process. This process is a security measure so that the address to which you want to forward the email can confirm that it wants to receive emails from the address you specify. IMPORTANT: Redirects created in our control panel will not work until they are properly validated.

First of all, log in to your cdmon control panel and look for the "Redirect Management" button. This button is located in the hosting configuration section:

If this is the first time you access it, you may not have any redirects created. In the upper-right corner, click on "Create Redirect" to get started.

Next, the control panel displays a form to create the redirect. There are two types of accounts with which we can create redirects:

  • Source Account Type:
    • Source Account without Mailbox: Ideal for accounts that are not created in the hosting, but allow redirects to be created

    • Source Account with Mailbox: Suitable for accounts created on the server. You can also activate the redirect with copy option, which makes the messages received by the source account be saved in that address's inbox, in addition to redirecting them to the specified destination account.

  • Destination Account: Enter the email address to which you want to redirect the messages, either within the same hosting or to an external address.

After saving the data, the panel will show that the redirect was created successfully.

Now we will return to the existing redirects section, where you will see a record with details such as the account name, the type (with or without mailbox), and the destination address. The status of this redirect configuration is also shown; since it is a new redirect, the status will be "Pending Verification". Click on the  logo next to "Pending Verification" in the "Status" column.

When you create the redirect, our system automatically sends a verification code to the destination address. If you do not receive the verification email, select "Send new code".

The email you will receive has the subject "Email redirect request" and the message text is the following:

We have received a request to set your email account videos@laboratoriocc.click as the destination for redirecting emails received in the account noexisteestacuenta@laboratoriocc.click.
To protect the security of your account and ensure that you consent to this request, we have implemented a two-step verification process.
Please follow the steps described below to complete the verification:

Access the redirect management screen
Click the verify button on the email address that matches the source account and destination account
Enter this unique code in the text box and click verify
Your code is: 123456
This code is unique and will only be valid for the next 48 hours. If you did not make this request, please ignore this message.

cdmon Team

You must copy and enter the code sent to your destination address in the control panel, in the previous window. Once the system accepts the code, your redirect will be validated and ready to use!

Perfect! You can now manage your email redirects safely and effectively with our new verification process.

Edit existing redirect
Our system allows you to add/remove destination addresses associated with the same source email account, whether it is an account with or without a mailbox. To access the account editing section, click on  in the list of created redirects.

When accessing it, the name of the source account you are editing will be shown, as well as the destination addresses currently assigned to it. If you want to delete any of the destination accounts, simply click on  and the panel will remove the redirect created to that account.

If you want to add another destination address to forward to, you can click on "Add new account" and a block will appear in the panel to add the email address you want. Each source account has a maximum of 10 destination email accounts.

IMPORTANT: Whether you delete a destination email account or add a new one, the account validation processes are the same. In other words, if you delete a validated email address, that validation will also be lost, and if you are adding new destination accounts, you will need to validate each one independently.
