How to modify an existing email address configured in Thunderbird

At cdmon you have the option to edit your email account in different email clients. In this tutorial, you will see how to do it in Thunderbird.

 

In this case, we use the account “example@supportcdmon.com” as an example; this address must be replaced with the name of the email account to be configured.

 

 

Modify an existing account

 

To access the configuration of an email account, right-click on the account name and click the Settings option.

In the window that appears, you can see a column on the left with the different sections that contain your email account details. To modify each of them, click on them and the corresponding details will appear on the right side of the window.

 

If you click Server Settings you can see the details you have configured for the incoming server, security settings, and certain functions that you can enable or disable related to server settings, message deletion, and message storage.

 

The "Copies and Folders" option allows you to configure different functions for sending messages, for archives, as well as for drafts and templates.

 

The following image refers to the configuration of the "Composition and Addressing" section, where you can enable or disable various functions and set general preferences.

The "Junk Mail" option allows you to select and enable various functions, as well as configure the general junk mail preferences.

 

The following image shows the configuration options related to the "Synchronization and Storage" section, where you can set the parameters related to message synchronization, disk space, and disk space recovery.

 

In the "End-to-End Encryption" section, you can select the certificates used to sign sent emails, the ones you use to encrypt/decrypt messages, and the security devices.

 

If you select the "Return Receipts" option, you can configure the global return receipt preferences and customize the return receipt for the email account you are configuring.

 

If you access the "Local Folders" section, you can change the account name, enable the option to empty the trash when exiting the email client, and indicate the local directory where the data will be saved.

 

In the "Junk Mail" option, you can configure various options that allow you to set the necessary parameters for managing junk mail.

 

The "Disk Space" section shows the different options you can configure to recover space on your disk.

 

If you select the "Outgoing Server (SMTP)" option, a list of the outgoing servers configured in your account is displayed. If you want to modify the parameters, select the server you want to modify and click Edit.

 

After clicking "Edit", you will be able to modify the details corresponding to the outgoing server (SMTP). Once modified, click OK.

 

Important: If your domain is registered with cdmon and you have cdmon DNS assigned, and you want your outgoing mail (SMTP) to be encrypted (SSL), you must change the SMTP port to 465 and select "SSL/TLS" in the "Connection security" option.
