In this guide, we will explain the essential fundamentals of what a Virtual Server is, how to purchase one from our commercial website, and why it is highly recommended that you consider setting one up depending on your web requirements.
What is a Virtual Server (VUP)?
A Virtual Server, commonly abbreviated as VUP, is an advanced web hosting solution that combines the power and control of a dedicated server with the efficiency and accessibility of shared hosting. Essentially, it is a virtualized server that runs within a physical server. Each VUP operates as an independent entity with its own operating system and dedicated resources such as CPU, RAM, storage, and bandwidth.
This independence and allocation of exclusive resources allow you to enjoy a high level of customization and control over your hosting environment, similar to what you would get with a dedicated server, but at a more affordable cost.
How do I purchase a Virtual Server with cdmon?
The first step to setting up a Virtual Server with us is to access our commercial website, cdmon.com. From this page, you can view all the information you need about our products and about cdmon. To purchase a new server, go to the upper-left section, under “Servers” and click on “Virtual Servers”:
Below, a table is shown with the features available to configure your Virtual Server. In this window, you can modify the server’s specifications and purchase it with the configuration that best suits your web projects.
You can modify the number of processors and the amount of RAM so the server has greater power. You can also adjust the disk space depending on the size your hosting services will require, and finally, you can choose whether you want a maximum limit of 20 hosting accounts or if you prefer to create an unlimited number of hosting accounts.
Once you have selected the desired specifications, click on “Purchase” to continue with the server setup.
Clicking this button will redirect you to our website’s shopping cart. There you will see the Virtual Server you have added, and the next step is to complete the payment so the purchase can be finalized.
In the first step of the cart, you must verify the products you wish to pay for. If everything is correct, click on “Next step”:
If you are completing these steps without being logged into our control panel, the shopping cart will ask you to identify yourself before continuing. If you are already a cdmon customer, simply enter your credentials under “I am already a customer” and log in. If you are not yet a cdmon customer, go to “I am not a customer” and register with us—it is completely free.
You will then be asked to enter the billing details for this purchase. You can use an existing billing contact from your cdmon account or manually enter new billing information:
In this same window, you must select the payment method you wish to use: bank transfer/deposit, Visa/Mastercard, direct debit, or PayPal:
· If you choose bank transfer/deposit, our bank account details will be displayed so you can make the payment.
· If you choose Visa or Mastercard, you will be redirected to the bank’s secure card payment gateway.
· If you choose Direct Debit, cdmon will charge your bank account according to the selected billing period, with automatic renewals.
· If you choose PayPal, PayPal payments include a surcharge of 1.8% + €0.35, corresponding to PayPal’s fees compared to Visa/Mastercard payments.
Finally, verify that all the entered information is correct. If everything is correct, scroll to the bottom and accept the terms and conditions:
To finish, the payment window will open according to the payment method you selected in the previous step. Below is an example of the window shown when selecting card payment:
After completing these steps, you will have successfully registered a brand-new Virtual Server. Once the payment is made, you can access your cdmon control panel and verify that it appears in your Server List. It may take a few minutes to appear.
Why purchase a Virtual Server?
You may now be wondering why you should consider purchasing a VUP for your web projects. Here are some reasons:
Total Control: With a VUP, you have full control over your server environment, allowing you to install and configure software tailored to your needs, as long as it is compatible with the base operating system.
Optimized Performance: Dedicated resources ensure consistent and fast performance, which is essential for websites and applications that require high responsiveness.
Scalability: You can easily adjust your VUP’s resources as your project grows, without needing to change servers.
Enhanced Security: Being isolated from other VUPs on the same physical server makes your environment more secure and less vulnerable to threats.
Reliability: Redundancy and availability are core features of a VUP, ensuring your projects are available 24/7.
Cost-effectiveness: VUPs offer excellent value for money, delivering high performance and customization at a lower cost than a dedicated physical server.
