The "Restore backup" function available in the control panel has two options: performing a full restoration (both web files and database, replacing the current content with the content from that backup) or performing an advanced restoration (this allows us to restore web files or databases and either replace the current content or store the copy in the /restores folder).
This guide explains the process of restoring a backup in order to store it in the /restores folder of our hosting so that it can later be downloaded via FTP.
First of all, we must go to our control panel, access the hosting management, go to the Security section and click on "Restore backup".
In the dropdown that appears next, we must select the option we want to restore, whether web files or database files (if you want to have a copy of both web files and databases, you must repeat the same process selecting the other option. In this example we will do it with web files).
After selecting the option we want, the available days for restoration will appear. When choosing the desired day, a list of all the files and folders in our hosting will appear. We must select the files/folders we want to restore using the checkbox located to the left of each item.
If what we want is to restore a specific file from a folder, we must navigate to it and select it as shown in the following image:
Once we have selected the file/folder we want to restore, we must scroll to the bottom and we will see what we want to do with those files:
The first option, as indicated by its title, replaces the selected file/folder with the content currently present at the time of restoration. In this guide we will select the other option, "Save the files in the /restores folder", so that we can later access it via FTP, open that folder, and download the content stored there.
Once we click on "Start restoration", the following message will appear confirming that the restoration has started successfully and that you will receive an email when the restoration has finished:
You will receive an email similar to this:
Once the connection has been made, on the right side of the program a window will display the directories and files of your hosting. We must look for a folder called /restores, which is located at the same level as your /web folder.
Finally, inside the /restores folder we must look for the folder indicated in the email we received (it is always the day when the restoration was performed) and locate the specific file:
To download it, click on the file and right-click and select "Download".
The file will be downloaded to your device, so you will now have a local copy of it.
