Sending emails is a fundamental part of any WordPress website. Whether you manage a personal blog, an online store, or a corporate site, the ability to send emails is essential to maintain effective communication with your users, customers, and followers. However, WordPress by default uses the built-in email function, which can sometimes present delivery issues.
This is where the WP Mail SMTP plugin comes into play. This plugin is a solution to improve the reliability of your email system.
In this guide, we show the steps to install and configure a cdmon email account in this plugin.
Go to the Plugins section and click Add New from your WordPress admin panel:
From there, search for WP Mail SMTP and install the plugin shown below:
Once installed, click on “Activate”:
After activation, you will be redirected to the plugin setup wizard. Click on “Let’s Get Started” to begin configuration:
In the first configuration step, choose the SMTP service. To add your cdmon email account, select “Other SMTP” and click “Save and Continue”:
In the next step, you will be asked for the mail server settings. Fill in the fields by replacing the example data shown in the image with your own domain and email account details:
Once all data has been entered, click Save and Continue.
Next, the plugin will show additional features you can enable to manage everything from the same place.
You may leave them checked if you wish to manage everything from this plugin, but if you already use another plugin with similar functions and try to enable them, you may receive an error.
The essential options are Improved Email Deliverability and Email Error Tracking. The other three are optional:
The next step is to subscribe to the WP Mail SMTP newsletter. If you prefer, you can Skip this step at the bottom.
The fifth step allows you to enter the WP Mail SMTP Pro license key if you have one.
If you are using the Lite version (the one installed at the beginning), you can Skip this step in the lower right corner:
The sixth and final step checks the full configuration. If everything is correct, you will see a message like the following:
If you would like to send a test email to verify the configuration, click on the “Send a Test Email” button at the bottom of this window.
Clicking it will take you to the plugin settings, where you can enter the email address that should receive the test message.
If everything works correctly, you will receive an email from the WP Mail SMTP plugin at the configured address:
Once configured, you can edit the account settings again and assign a different email account if needed.
From the “Settings” section of the WP Mail SMTP plugin, at the bottom you will see the currently configured account details. Below is an image showing the configured account information:
