How to set up email in Outlook 2010
At cdmon you have the option to configure email accounts in different clients. Outlook 2010 allows you to configure the email account automatically or manually.
Below, we show how to perform these two types of configuration.
In this case, we use the account “demo@example.com” as an example. This address must be replaced with the name of the email account to be configured.
Automatic configuration
This is the quickest and easiest option to configure the cdmon email account as IMAP in Outlook 2010.
1.-Previous account configuration
In Outlook 2010, go to “File” and click Add Account.
2.-Main account details
Enter the details in the fields requested: “Your name”, “Email address”, “Password” and “Retype password”, and click Next so that Outlook creates the account automatically.
3.-Certificate confirmation.
During activation, one or more messages may appear indicating that “The name on the security certificate is invalid or does not match the name of the site”. Click Yes on all of them so that the configuration can continue.
Outlook cannot validate and connect the accounts via SSL, so it will show you the following warning. Accept it so that it connects without encryption.
Once the configuration has finished, it will indicate that the account has been created. To finish, click the Finish button and you will be able to use the email account.
Manual configuration
Below we explain how you can configure an email account already created in cdmon in Outlook 2010, indicating the server name, connection ports and account user details.
1.-Previous account configuration
In Outlook 2010, go to “File” and click Add Account.
On the next screen, leave the fields shown blank and select the option “Manually configure server settings or additional server types”.
On the service selection screen, choose the option “Internet E-mail”.
2.-Main account details
The next step is to enter the details of the email account to be configured. Then click More Settings... .
3.-Advanced email account options
Go to the “Outgoing Server” tab and select the options “My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication” and “Use same settings as my incoming mail server”.
Finally, go to the “Advanced” tab, enter port 143* and select “None” as the encryption type for the IMAP configuration. For SMTP, enter port 578 and select “None” as the encryption type.
*The port to enter when configuring POP3 is 110.
Important: If you have the domain registered with cdmon and cdmon DNS assigned, and you want your outgoing email (SMTP) to be encrypted (SSL), you must change the SMTP port to 465 and, in the “Use the following type of encrypted connection” option, select “SSL/TLS”.
When you click “OK”, you will return to the “IMAP and POP3 Account Settings” window. When you click Next, an account information screen is displayed and a connectivity test is performed.
Once the test has completed successfully, you will have finished configuring your cdmon account in Outlook 2010.
