NOT AVAILABLE mail redirects in Control Panel. How is it fixed?

Sometimes, when managing your domain from the control panel, you may find that the email forwarding option appears as unavailable. This issue is generally caused by incorrect configurations in the domain's MX records. Below, we explain how to fix it.

To enable email forwarding at the domain level, it is crucial that the domain's MX record is correctly configured.

To do this, you must access your domain's zone records. You can click on “Manage records (zone)”, which appears just to the right of the unavailable email section, in the “DNS” column.

Once there, the panel will redirect you to the list of DNS records created for your domain in our control panel. As mentioned, it is necessary that your domain’s MX record is correctly configured in order to create email forwarding at the domain level.

You must locate the MX record that is currently created. It is common that the existing record is the default one from cdmon for cdmon hosting:

If you find that the MX record is configured as mail.yourdomain.com or another value, you will need to edit this record with the following information:

Note: If you do not have any MX record created or have a different one than shown in the image, the data to enter is the same. The domain must end up with the following DNS record created:

Type: MX
Subdomain/Host: @
Destination address: mail.cdmon.net

Once the data is entered, click on “Save record” to complete the process.
If you now return to the domain management, you will see that email forwarding is now available:

IMPORTANT: This change means that the email service of the cdmon hosting will no longer be active; only the email forwarding configured from our control panel will work.

If you want to restore the MX record assigned by the hosting by default, simply return to the domain’s zone records and reassign the hosting’s MX record.

If you try to edit the MX record you created, the panel will not allow it because it detects it as a system record. In that case, you will need to delete the record and create a new MX record with the correct data.
