Do you want to update your WordPress and don’t know how? Are you not sure whether your WordPress needs to be updated?
At cdmon we offer an update service that can help you update your WordPress to the latest version.
What actions will the cdmon team carry out as part of the update service?
The cdmon team will create a backup of your current WordPress installation, which will be kept for a period of 7 days after the update.
The update steps and any issues encountered during the process will be detailed.
In addition, we will also install security systems such as Wordfence and scan the hosting using our internal tools to check for malware.
Once the update has been confirmed by our team, you will have 7 days to report any issues with the website.
Note: In order to examine each case in more detail, it is necessary for you to indicate what you need us to work on, and whether you have detected that your WordPress is infected or showing anomalies.
Will my themes and plugins be updated?
Yes, whenever possible. Some plugins require payment before they can be updated; in these cases, the client must provide the plugin and/or access keys required for the update.
How can I hire the update service?
You can hire the service from the hosting management area of the hosting plan you want us to update. To do this, go to the Applications section and click on WordPress Consulting:
Next, the WordPress Consulting window will open. Here you will see a brief summary of what we do and what the consulting service includes. In this same help article you can find all these specifications in greater detail.
To hire the consulting service, you must fill in all the fields shown on the screen:
WordPress admin user: The username used to access your WordPress (it is essential that the user provided has administrator permissions).
WordPress admin password: Password for the provided user.
WordPress URL: The address used to access your WordPress administrator area.
Notes: You must indicate what you need us to work on.
Accept the specific service conditions: You will be provided with a link to the conditions, and it will be necessary to accept them in order to hire the service.
Once everything has been completed, click on “Hire” and the consulting service will automatically be added to the shopping cart. You must proceed with the payment for us to receive the request.
If you have any questions about the service, you can also contact us via email at
wordpress@cdmon.com.
What is the cost of this service?
The cost of the service is €99 + VAT. This service is carried out per individual installation and on a one-time basis.
This is not an annual maintenance service.
Can all cdmon hosting plans hire this consulting service?
Not all hosting plans allow hiring the WordPress consulting service. Specifically, Micro plans and Mail plans cannot do so, as micro plans cannot have databases (therefore, no CMS can be installed), and Mail plans are exclusively for email accounts.
The WordPress Consulting button in the control panel will appear disabled:
Is it possible to keep a WordPress-based website on an older version?
It is possible; however, WordPress is a platform that dominates the market and is therefore a target of interest for those seeking to compromise website security.
WordPress updates not only add new features and support for new systems, but also include security improvements that fix known issues.
This information is provided by the WordPress development team through the patch notes of new versions.
How can I check my current version and see if it needs to be updated?
1- The WordPress administration itself indicates that you are running an outdated version when it suggests updating it.
2- Through the WordPress Site Health page.
You can check the version under Tools / Site Health / Info.
3- Through the WordPress version.php file.
WordPress includes a file within its core where you can check the currently active version.
This file is located in the directory /web/wp-includes/version.php
It will show the version as follows:
/** * The WordPress version string. * * @global string $wp_version */$wp_version = '6.0';
In this example, 6.0 is the current WordPress version.
How can I know which version is the latest?
If my version is below the latest one indicated, should I update?
Yes, it is important to keep it updated to avoid security and compatibility issues.
Can I wait before performing the update?
It is advisable to be proactive. It is better to carry out a clean update rather than waiting for problems to appear that could complicate the process.
If my website is infected, can you update it?
In this case, it depends on how WordPress is affected; in most cases, yes.
However, we recommend contacting our specialists at
wordpress@cdmon.com so they can assess your case.
If it were not possible to update my website, would I lose my money?
No. If this situation occurs, the update will be cancelled by our team and the amount refunded.
