A domain always has at least one pair of DNS servers assigned in the registry, indicating where the information regarding the IP addresses associated with the domain can be found.

DNS servers provide functionality to the domain and are usually associated with the DNS servers provided by the hosting provider where the domain’s services (web, email, FTP, etc.) are hosted.

Through a whois lookup, you can obtain the DNS servers assigned to a domain.
