.cc domain information

Here you will find all the information related to .cc domains.

General information
.cc is a geographic top-level domain (ccTLD) for the Australian territory of the Cocos (Keeling) Islands. Because it matches the initials of “Commercial Company”, it has become very popular and is widely used by companies that were unable to register a .com or .net.
Associations such as country clubs, chat communities or Chambers of Commerce use this domain to promote their businesses online.

Reasons to register a .cc domain
Anyone can register a .cc domain, but if you cannot register .com or .net, this is the opportunity to obtain a global domain. DNS propagation time for DNS server changes is under one minute. It is also one of the most secure extensions, as you can enable DNSSEC.
It is also important to note that .cc domains allow automatic ownership changes directly from the cdmon control panel.

  • Available domain: the domain has not yet been registered and is therefore available. When a registration request is submitted, it will be assigned to the first request received.
  • Registered domain: when a request is submitted for an available domain, it is assigned to the applicant. Registration may be requested for 1 to 10 years.
  • Active domain: the domain remains active for the number of years it was registered. During this time, the number of years can be extended to avoid expiration.
  • Grace period: the domain has expired and stops functioning. This period lasts 40 days and you can renew the domain without penalty.
  • Redemption period: this period lasts 30 days. The domain has been deleted but can be restored and renewed at a higher cost than a regular renewal.
  • Pending delete: the domain cannot be restored and will be released.
