Registering a .pe domain

Restrictions for registering .pe domains:
- .pe domains can have a maximum of 63 characters and a minimum of 3.
- Accepted characters for registration are: a-z, 0-9 and hyphen "-". The "-" cannot appear at the beginning or end of the name.
- They can be registered for a period of 1 to 5 years.
Restrictions for renewing .pe domains:
- A .pe domain can be renewed for a period of 1 to 5 years.
- A .pe domain can only be renewed 2 months before it expires.
Restrictions for transferring .pe domains:
- .pe domains cannot be transferred if they are expired.
- .pe domains cannot be transferred if they are in clientTransferProhibited status.
- To initiate the transfer of .pe domains, the AUTH CODE is required.
Since domains have an expiration date, they go through different phases or periods known as the domain lifecycle. This lifecycle is established by ICANN, the entity responsible for domain regulations. In the following diagram, we show you the lifecycle of a .pe domain and its statuses.
- Available domain: the domain has not yet been registered, therefore it is available. Once a registration request is submitted, it will be assigned to the first request received.
- Registered domain: when a request is submitted for an available domain, it is assigned to the person who requested it. A registration request is made for a number of years, which can be from 1 to 5 years.
- Active domain: the domain will be active for the years for which the registration was made. During this period, the number of years can be extended starting two months before the expiration date.
- Grace period: the domain has expired and stops working. This period lasts 29 days and you can renew the domain without penalty fees.
- Pending delete period: the domain cannot be restored and will be released.
