.wf domains can be registered by any person residing in the territory of the European Union, or by entities whose headquarters are located in a Member State of the European Union.
Registering a .wf domain

Restrictions for registering .wf domains:
- .wf domains may contain a maximum of 63 characters and a minimum of 2.
- Any citizen with nationality from one of the EU Member States, regardless of their country of residence, may register a .wf domain.
- Any company, corporation, or association based in any of the countries that make up the European Union has the right to register a .wf domain.
- Accepted characters for registration are: a-z, 0-9, and hyphen "-". The "-" cannot be the first or last character of the domain name, nor can it appear twice consecutively.
- The domain must have an active DNS service at the time of registration.
Restrictions for renewing .wf domains:
- A .wf domain can be renewed at any time.
- A .wf domain can be renewed for a maximum period of 1 year.
Restrictions for transferring .wf domains:
- .wf domains cannot be transferred if they are expired.
- To start the transfer of a .wf domain, the AUTHCODE is required.
- The transfer resets the domain expiry date from the moment the registrar change is completed. Therefore, it is advisable to initiate the transfer when the domain is close to its expiration date.
As domains have an expiration date, they follow a lifecycle consisting of several phases. This lifecycle is established by ICANN, the entity responsible for domain regulations. The following graphic shows the lifecycle of a .wf domain and its statuses.
- Available domain: the domain has not yet been registered, therefore it is available for registration. Once a registration request is submitted, it will be assigned to the first request received.
- Registered domain: when a request is submitted for an available domain, it is assigned to the requester. When submitting the registration request, the domain can be registered for 1 year.
- Active domain: the domain will remain active during the year of registration. During this period, it can be renewed to avoid expiration starting from 2 months before the expiry date.
- Redemption period: this period lasts 30 days, during which the domain has been deleted but can be restored and renewed at a higher cost.
- Pending delete: the domain cannot be restored and will be released.
Registration of domains with special characters (IDN)
Registration with special characters (IDN) is not permitted for .wf domains.
