.xxx domains are sTLD (restricted) domains specifically designed for the adult entertainment industry.
- Only those who register as members of the sponsored community can enjoy an active .xxx domain at DNS level, allowing them to publish their adult website.
- People or entities wishing to protect a specific domain can register it without joining as members, keeping the domain inactive to protect their brand or company name.

Restrictions for registering .xxx domains:
- .xxx domains can have a maximum of 63 characters and a minimum of 4.
- Accepted characters are: a-z, 0-9 and hyphen “-”. The hyphen cannot be at the beginning or end of the name.
- For a .xxx domain to be active at DNS level, the registrant must be registered in the sponsored community and provide their member identifier to associate it with the domain.
- .xxx domains can be registered as inactive, simply indicating during registration that no adult website will be hosted on them.
- They can be registered for a period of 1 to 10 years.

- To accept the transfer of a .xxx domain, access to the administrative contact's email is required.
