How to register a domain in cdmon
In this guide, we will show the essential basics of what a domain is, how to register a domain from our commercial website, and why it is highly recommended that you consider registering one for your online presence.
What is a domain?
A domain is more than just a web address; it is the cornerstone of your online identity. In simple terms, a domain is the unique address that people use to access your website on the Internet. For example, the domain "www.yourdomain.com" is the gateway to your web presence. It is a way to mark your digital territory and make your site easily accessible to your visitors.
How do I register a domain with cdmon?
The first step to register a domain with us is to access our commercial website cdmon.com. From this page, you can see all the information you need about our products and also about cdmon. To register a new domain, you must go to the top left, in the "Domains" section and access "Register domains":
Next, a search bar will be displayed where you must enter the name of the domain you want to register, whichever you prefer. We will use the name "exampledomain.com" for this tutorial. Once you have entered the domain name, you must click "Search" so it can check the availability of this domain:
Next, it will show whether the domain is available or not. If it is not available, it means that this domain is already registered by someone else, either at cdmon or at any other registrar. It is important to know that the domain is unique, meaning there can only be one domain registered with the same name.
If the domain is available for registration, it will be shown as in the following image, where the registration price is displayed, as well as the same domain name with different extensions:
To continue with the registration, you must click the pink "Add" button and our website will move this domain to the shopping cart. You can click the same purple button as shown in the following image:
Clicking that button will redirect us to the shopping cart on our website. There you can see that the domain you added has been included, and the next step is to make the payment so that the registration can be completed.
In the first step of the cart, you must verify the products you want to pay for. If everything is correct, you must click "Next step":
If you are carrying out these steps without having logged in to our control panel, the shopping cart will ask you to identify yourself before continuing with the purchase. If you are already a cdmon customer, you only need to enter your access credentials in the "I am already a customer" section and log in. If you are not yet a cdmon customer, you must go to the "I am not a customer" section and register with us; it is completely free.
Next, it will ask you to enter the billing details for this purchase. You can use the details of a billing contact you have created in your cdmon user account or enter the details manually for this new registration:
In this same window, you must select the payment method you want to use to make the payment deposit/bank transfer or Visa/Mastercard card, direct debit or PayPal.
· If you choose deposit/bank transfer, our bank account details will appear so you can make the deposit.
· If you choose Visa or Mastercard, the bank card payment gateway that provides us with this service will appear.
· If you choose Direct Debit, depending on the billing period you selected, cdmon will issue a bank receipt for the corresponding amount, and automatic renewal will be carried out.
· If you choose PayPal, PayPal payments have a surcharge of 1.8% + €0.35, corresponding to the difference in PayPal fees compared to Visa / MasterCard card payments.
To finish, this window will appear indicating that an email has been sent to the domain holder's email address to validate this purchase. You must access the email address in question and accept the email you received there. It is important to mention that this window does not always appear; it depends on the domain extension you register:
Once you have validated the email, you can click "Understood" to close this window. Finally, you must check that all the details you entered are correct and, if so, go to the very bottom and check the terms and policies option:
To finish, the window will open so you can make the payment according to the method you selected in the previous step. We show a screenshot of the window when selecting card payment as the payment method:
With these steps, you will have completed the registration of a completely new domain. As soon as you make the payment, you can access your cdmon control panel and verify that it appears in your Domain List; it should take a few minutes to appear.
