How to manage bulk mailing and cope with spam

At cdmonshared hosting plans (Start, Junior, Senior, Master and Preserver) allow sending up to 500 emails per day per email account through SMTP and the free microplan service allows sending 100 emails per day from the only account offered by the plan. If you exceed this limit, you receive a warning message and the possibility of sending 50 more emails.

Why has my email account been blocked?
If your email account has been blocked for exceeding the daily sending limit, it may be due to different reasons:
  • Excess legitimate email sending: you have sent emails normally and the established limit has been exceeded. In this case, if you need to send this volume of emails regularly, it is advisable to upgrade to a Premium Account (20 GB of space and 1500 daily sends)

  • Excess newsletter sending: if you need to carry out bulk mailings, it is advisable to create the newsletter user from the "Control Panel" to perform this type of sending.

  • Spam sending: if you are not aware of having sent this number of emails, it is possible that your email account has been used to send spam.

What can we do if our account is being used to send spam?
The first thing you need to do is scan with antivirus and antispyware all computers that have the email account configured to remove any type of infection or malicious software that may have captured the account data and is using it to send spam.

Once all computers or devices that connect to the email accounts have been checked and cleaned of malicious software, access the cdmon "Control Panel" and modify the password of the affected email account, in the "Email" section.

How can we set a secure password?
  • It must contain uppercase letters, lowercase letters, numbers, and 2 or more special characters (@,#,$,%,&,/,=,?,¿,|,...).

  • Mix numbers and letters.

  • Length of more than 8 characters.

  • Regular password changes.

It is important that your computers are protected against malware and that you follow a proper security policy with email account passwords to prevent data from being captured and used for fraudulent purposes.
