Keeping WordPress up to date, along with its plugins and themes, is crucial to ensure the security, stability, and performance of your website. Frequent updates help protect your site against security vulnerabilities, fix bugs, and add new features that improve user experience and site management.
Outdated plugins and themes make your site vulnerable to attacks and create opportunities for hackers to compromise your WordPress.
If your site is infected or severely outdated, at cdmon we offer a WordPress Consulting service. Our specialized team will update and clean your site, leaving it fully functional. This service is highly recommended for a professional review and detailed handling.
Update WordPress
Before proceeding with the update, remember that at cdmon we perform daily backups that canbe restored from our control panel. This includes website files and the database, allowing you to restore your site if something goes wrong.
In the Updates section of your WordPress panel, check whether automatic updates are disabled.
If so, WordPress will offer you the option to enable them.
Important: This option only applies to the WordPress core, not to plugins and themes.
Update Plugins
From the WordPress Dashboard, go to Plugins > Installed Plugins.
If updates are available, you will see a notification next to the plugin.
You can update them individually by clicking Update now under the plugin name, or select several and use the Update option from the Bulk actions dropdown menu.
If processed correctly, WordPress will display a confirmation message.
Automatic Plugin Updates
In the list of installed plugins, you can enable automatic updates for each plugin from the right-hand side.
Update Themes
From the WordPress Dashboard, go to Appearance > Themes.
If updates are available, you will see a notification on the theme.
Click on the theme and then on Update now to start the update.
If processed correctly, WordPress will display a confirmation message.
Automatic Theme Updates
In the list of installed themes, you can enable automatic updates from each theme’s details.
