How to verify the identity of the server in your mail manager; Mac Mail, Iphone or Thunderbird
cdmon updates its security certificate (srv.cat) for its servers, and after a certificate update or change, you may need to verify the server identity again, confirm a security exception, or modify your account settings. To do this, we provide a series of instructions for the email clients where you may need to perform any of the actions mentioned above.
In the following video, you can follow the steps to verify the server identity.
Below, we detail the steps shown in the video.
If you access your Mac Mail client and the following message appears, you must follow the steps we indicate to verify the server identity.
First, you need to delete the current certificate (srv.cat) in the “Keychain Access” section of your Mac. To do this, access Spotlight Search (the magnifying glass at the top right of your Mac) and search for the word “keychain”. The “Keychain Access” option will automatically appear, and you must open it.
Once in the “Keychain Access” section, you must select and delete the *.srv.cat certificate.
When deleting the certificate, the system will ask you to authenticate as the system user, where you must enter your computer access password.
Once you have deleted the certificate, access your Mac Mail client, and in the “Mail can't verify the identity of the server” message, click Show Certificate. A window will open where you must click the Trust drop-down menu and check that all sections show the option Always Trust. Finally, click Continue.
To finish the process, you must authenticate as the computer user by entering your access password.
Once the validation process is complete, your email account will work correctly again.
iPhone
If you access your iPhone email client and the following message appears, you must follow these steps to disable the SSL option in your account settings.
First, you need to access the settings of the account you want to modify. To do this, go to Settings>Accounts and Passwords and tap the account configured in cdmon. If you use iOS 10.3.3 or earlier, go to Settings>Mail> Accountsand access the account. You will see the following screen, where you must tap Account.
On the next screen, you must tap Advanced to access the incoming mail server settings.
On the “Advanced” screen, you must disable the Use SSL option.
Once you have disabled “Use SSL”, you must tap OK on the “Accounts” screen to save the changes. On the same “Accounts” screen, you must also access the SMTP option to enter the outgoing mail server settings.
On the “smtp.yourdomain.com” screen, you must disable the Use SSL option and tap OK.
Once you have completed the indicated steps, your email account will be active again in your iPhone email client.
Thunderbird
When accessing your Thunderbird client, it may show the following message, where you must click Confirm Security Exception.
By clicking this option, you are telling the client to trust the “*.srv.cat” certificate of your cdmon mail server. Once the exception has been confirmed, your Thunderbird email account will be active again.
