I have received such an email. My data is correct, what should I do?
If I reply to the message I have received, will the changes take effect?
I no longer manage the domain, why do I keep receiving data update messages?
Q: Why do I receive emails informing me about my whois data?
A: They are sent because cdmon is an ICANN-accredited registrar and we are required to comply with the agreed-upon policies of the organization that manages domains internationally.
Q: What does WDRP mean?
A: It stands for Whois Data Reminder Policy. This policy was adopted by ICANN and requires registrars to do the following: at least once a year, send an email to the domain owner, reminding them of the whois data that appears for the registered domain. The domain owner must ensure that the data is correct, and if it is not, they must correct it. If it is not corrected and false information is being displayed, the domain would have to be canceled.
Q: What is whois data?
A: cdmon, as a registrar, maintains a database of contacts for all domains it holds. This database is known as the whois database and is available for industry professionals to search in order to resolve technical problems and to allow for the enforcement of customer protection, trademark, and other laws. The domain registration contract with cdmon requires that contact data be kept accurate.
Q: I have received such an email. My data is correct, what should I do?
A: When you receive a WDRP email, you must verify that the domain contact data is correct. If it is, you do not need to do anything.
Q: My data is incorrect, what should I do?
A: You must modify the domain's whois data from the cdmon control panel and update it so that it appears correctly. If you do not usually manage the domain in question, you must contact the person who does it for you. If the whois data is false, you are violating the registration contract and the domain may be canceled.
Q: How can I update my domain's whois data?
A: If you have access to the cdmon control panel, you can access the panel and modify your domain's contact data.
Q: I try to log into the control panel to modify the whois data, but I don't have the access credentials. How can I receive the credentials?
A: If you are not a cdmon user, you must first request the modifications from the person managing the domain or directly from your provider. If you already have a cdmon user account but do not remember your password, you can go to the password recovery page.
Q: I don't want my clients to receive the email from cdmon directly. Can I activate an option so that it is sent as if I or my company were sending it?
A: Yes, you can activate the option within your control panel, under notification settings. You can check the option "Whois data accuracy notices (WDRP)" and, by saving the provider data you want to appear, the white-label WDRP email will be sent with your data.
Q: If I reply to the message I have received, will the changes take effect?
A: No. The message is merely a reminder of the data found in a Whois query on the domain. If you wish to make any changes, you must access the cdmon control panel and update them so that they appear correctly. If you do not usually manage the domain in question, you must contact the person who does.
Q: I no longer manage the domain, why do I keep receiving data update messages?
A: The notice is sent to the email listed as the domain owner. If you no longer manage the domain, you should change the domain owner's data so that you no longer receive those notifications.
