To send very large files, we recommend not attaching the file directly to the email, as this may cause saturation issues in the email program or cause the destination server to reject the message because it exceeds the limit they have set for receiving emails.
For these cases, we suggest some tips so you can send it correctly.
1.-Upload the file to web hosting via FTP
An alternative is to upload the file by FTP to the hosting, so that sending is fast both for sending and receiving.
If you have hosting with cdmon, we advise you to use an external FTP client such as Filezilla using the main user or, failing that, create a secondary user.
Once you are connected by FTP, you will need to upload the file by FTP to the folder where you want to place it. Finally, once the email has been written, indicate the web address with the file path so that the email recipient can download it.
For example, if you upload the file "photos.zip" to the subfolder "attachments", the path indicated in the email is the following:
http://www.example.com/attachments/photos.zip
Keep in mind that you have the option to protect the download, so you can prevent access to the file if the recipient does not have the username and password to download it. To activate this option, you must access the hosting Control Panel and go to the file and folder permissions section to protect the folder where the file is hosted. Once the folder is protected, you can provide this information to the people you send the email to so they can download the file.
2.-Split the sending
Another option for sending is to split the large file into files of suitable size so they can be sent directly as email attachments. To split a file into parts while controlling the size of each one, you can use a compression program (such as WinRAR) and send several emails until all the files have been sent.
Also, if you need to send them to many recipients, it is recommended not to send to more than 20 at the same time so that the sending is completed correctly.
